Riding through the woods (the kids on the horses in-between)–it doesn’t get any better than that! As an added bonus, this a great way to get your horse broke, really broke! There is nothing better than wet saddle blankets.

Check out our pictures from a few of our trips from last summer!

What are your summer plans with the horses, kids and dogs?

Proposed North Texas Powerlines would cause irreversible damage the the Greenbelt and surrounding environment
Oncor is proposing the Krum West – Anna 345kV Transmission Line that has several proposed routes. The southern proposed routes would go south of Lake Ray Roberts and through the Greenbelt and through backyards. The southern routes would do irreversible damage to the Greenbelt and surrounding environment, property values, wildlife habitat, possible pollution of the drinking water, and damage our way of life.

GOAL: Prevent the Transmission Line from going through the southern routes. We want the lines to go NORTH of Lake Ray Roberts. Which would save any damage to the Greenbelt and preserve the homes and land (including our horse trails) of many people south of the lake.
Our best chance of protecting our greenbelt and land is to join together. Make your opinion count!

We recently had the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic weekend near the base of the Superstition Mountains just outside of Apache Junction, Arizona. The riding was spectacular and endless. Great trails throughout the Superstition Mountains and Tonto National Forest. The trails were plentiful and offered challenges for the experienced horse and rider as well as easy riding for the more novice riders!

On the first day, we found ourselves headed for Goldfield Ghost Town. A real Arizona Ghost Town (a first for me)! It was a 35 minute ride from our camp at the OK Corral (which was OK!). We arrived at the hitching post behind the Mommoth Steakhouse & Saloon. After hitching horses, we headed off to the bar to enjoy a glass of wine and beer while taking in the spectacular view. It was great experience! Live music on the porch, a great mix of people — Harleys and Horses were both at home here.

On the 2nd day, we headed north to ride in Tonto National Forest…it was a great ride! Wide open trails and an absolutely pristine desert landscape. We once again found ourselves back at the Mammoth Saloon to relax and enjoy lunch before heading for home.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to ride out here — you should give it a try — you won’t be disappointed. We had a wonderful stay at the OK Corral. They offer covered stalls and full RV Hookups.

Happy Trails!
